Открытый урок по английскому языку для 4 класса “Twinky wants a birthday

Цели

Образовательная: узнать о праздновании дней рождения жителей Великобритании, активизировать лексику по теме, развивать умения диалогической речи, восприятия и понимания иноязычной речи на слух, говорения, изучающего чтения, формировать коммуникативную компетенцию учащихся.

Развивающая: укреплять положительную мотивацию общения на английском языке, развивать речемыслительную деятельность, внимание учащихся.

Воспитательная: расширять социокультурный опыт, формировать культуру общения.

Оснащение урока: шары, праздничные шапочки, открытка, торт, свечи, картинки, карточки с вопросами, мультимедийная презентация, компьютер, колонки, экран, учебное пособие для 4 класса, 2 часть (Л.М. Лапицкая и др.)

Good morning! Glad to see you! How are you today?

Постановка целей и задач

Look at our classroom, can you guess what are we going to talk about today? Of course, birthday!


Everybody likes birthdays. And today we are going to practise our active vocabulary, develop listening, writing, reading and speaking skills. And for developing each skill you’ll get a necessary item.

Pupils raise their hands and answer.

All the aims are on the board.


I’ve got something for you. What is it?


Yes, it’s an invitation to a party!

Would you like to come to Twinky’s party? But before going there we should be prepared for it.

Children look at the screen and guess.


Firstly, we should practise our active words. Look at the board and repeat after me.

Pupils look at the pictures on the board and repeat the words after the teacher.

So, your homework was to learn the spelling of the words. That’s why let’s go to the board and check it. Write the words below the pictures.


Well-done! And for developing writing skills I give you an item necessary for our party. It’s a hat.

Pupils go to the board and write.


The teacher ticks the aim on the board and gives birthday hats to all the pupils, the pupils put on their hats.

Before listening look at the board, here you can see some new words, repeat after me.

tomorrow – the day after today.

Children discuss the questions in pairs then answer them.

Stand up and go to the board, please. Look at the monitor, if the sentence is correct go to the right, if not – to the left.


Thank you, sit down, please.

Pupils read by one sentence from the monitor and move.


How well have you understood the dialogue? Discuss the following questions in groups:

  1. When is Liz’s birthday?

  2. When is Mike’s birthday?

  3. When is Twinky’s birthday?

  4. When are they going to celebrate Twinky’s birthday?

  5. How old is Twinky?

Awesome! Here is your birthday cake.

Children sit in groups of four and discuss.

Twinky’s birthday is on the 10th of May, when is your birthday? Ask your classmates.

The teacher gives a cake to a pupil asking: when is your birthday? And when the pupil answers he puts a candle into the cake. Then he asks another student, giving the cake to him.

We practiced our words (point to the board), we read, listened, wrote, spoke. And you deserved all these things: the balloons, the hats, the cards, the cake with the candles – that’s all we need for having a birthday party.

And now let’s make a present for Twinky – sing a birthday song together.
